What Advertising Means To Me

Advertising is a way to entice a group or audience to buy a product. I believe that the advertising companies purposely use celebrities or beautiful women on purpose knowing that it will capture the eye of the audience making them want to purchase their product. A lot of the times you will see a very famous person on an ad such as an actor, sports star, or singer. This makes the product seem like something special if a famous person is advertising and using the product, when often times the celeb may not even use the product. I believe that advertisers have a sense of ignorance in the way they make the ads. It isn’t uncommon to see an ad that is way over the top and makes zero sense. For instance, a sexy woman modeling men’s clothing line. I do not fall for the advertisements in believing that if I buy the product I can be as cool and popular as the celebrity or get the sexy women pictured. When the audience is looking at ads they are truthfully just looking at the pictures. Once a picture on an ad interests a person they read more into the product and sometimes become interested in purchasing one. This is the reason why advertisers often put popular and rich people on the cover of their ads. Advertisements will continue to be printed with very important people labeled on the front of them as long as the celebrity on the ad is creating more revenue and the audience is falling for the false advertisement.

Why WSU?

My goal ever since I have been a young child was to attend the Ohio State University and become a buckeye. Due to the increase in requirements to get into the prestigious university I was not accepted, and left confused and devastated. I had no other choice to apply to as many schools that interested me. Wright State was one of the schools I had spotted out as a backup plan to not getting accepted into my dream college. I chose Wright State over all of the other universities I was accepted by due to my visit. When I visited Wright State I was immediately blown away by the campus. Our guide leading the visit was very informative of the history of the school and sharing what the university had to offer. Another reason I am attending the Wright State University is that I was originally in an undecided major and decided that I would take my prerequisites somewhere close to home. Along with being only about an hour away from home, four of my friends were already decided to come to Dayton to attend Wright State. They needed another roommate in the house that I live in now, and they ended up convincing me to come to Dayton. I was very excited when hearing about all the activities and programs Wright State offers, so I am able to stay active while getting a great education. Although I was extremely upset about not getting accepted by the Ohio State University I believe that I have made the correct choice and Wright State fills all the qualities I need and want in the college life.

Young Forever- Jay Z ft. Mr. Hudson

Twenty years from now Young Forever will still be one of the all-time greatest songs of the hip-hop genre. Jay Z is one of the best rappers of all time. Young Forever was actually written before Jay Z wrote it or reproduced it. It was first written by Alphaville in 1984. The song has been on the soundtrack for numerous movies and television shows. The rap version with Jay Z came out in January 2010 when the latest Jay Z album was released, The Blueprint 3. In the music video, which is done in black and white, it illustrates many characteristics of young kids. The song reached many top ten charts and topped out at number two on a Dutch chart. This was Jay Z’s seventeenth single to reach the top ten. The lyrics of the song tell a story of how a man, possibly Jay Z, who is living the dream life and feels like a young kid again. He refers to being a legend and states that his name will never die. Jay Z is addressing the youth of the nation with his song to express the point to always have fun and remember your days as a kid. Jay Z sings, “so were livin’ life like a video where the sun is always out and you never get old,” which simply means that he wants everyone to enjoy life and live it to its fullest. This is one of my favorite songs of all-time and it deserves all the recognition in the world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1nbvplgElw

Ohio State Buckeyes

The Ohio State Buckeyes have had a tradition of excellence in academics and the sport of football. On January 3, 2003 the buckeyes were in the national championship game in Tempe, Arizona facing the Miami Hurricanes. My father, mother, and I were lucky enough to find tickets and attend the game. The game went into two overtimes before the buckeyes could pull off the win to be the BCS champions. In the first overtime there was a controversial call known today as “the call.” On a fourth and three play Krenzel threw a pass to Chris Gamble which fell incomplete ending the game. However while the Hurricanes began to celebrate the referee threw a flag calling a pass interference call to give the buckeyes another life. Ohio State went on to score a touchdown to tie the game at 24. The buckeyes got the ball first in the second overtime and scored on a five yard Maurice Clarett touchdown run. The defense took the field and with Miami having no choice but to score a touchdown the buckeyes held the canes and won the game. As the scarlet and gray stormed the field, the crowd went crazy and gave me chills running down my spine. The buckeyes finished the season a perfect 14-0 winning the Big Ten as well. The team was led by quarterback Craig Krenzel and safety Mike Doss. The game was an experience of a lifetime. I have always been a huge dream of mine to attend a national championship.
